Wild Bird Seed Mix

Bird seed mixes are a great way to affordably attract a variety of wild birds. To help choose the best mix for you we've answered a few common questions below:

What seeds are in bird seed mix?

Each Happy Beaks seed mix is carefully curated depending on species, season and customer requirements.

To help attract specific species we offer Blue Tit, Goldfinch, Robin and Songbird seed mixes. For example, our Goldfinch seed mix contains oily linseed and niger seed to help tempt these colourful creatures to your feeders.

For the nursing and fledgling season we offer a Premium Spring and Summer Bird Seed Mix, packed full of highly nutritious sunflower hearts, dried mealworms and more. Or our All Season Seed Mix provides great value fusion of sunflower, millet, maize and red dari to keep wild birds fed throughout the year.

Discerning customers know it's sometimes worth spending a little extra to get what you want. Our No Husk, No Grow, No Waste Wild Bird Seed contains ingredients that reduces mess and won't germinate if it falls on your lawn.

Can you mix mealworms with bird seed?

Yes, in fact our Premium Spring and Summer Seed Mix contains dried mealworms mixed with a wide range of seeds, suet pellets and sunflower hearts.

What birds eat mixed seed?

A wide range of UK wild birds enjoy eating mixed seed, but different species will prefer different mixes. For example, finches will flock to mixes containing niger seed. That's why we offer seed mixes specifically for different bird species including Robins, Goldfinches and Blue Tits.

What is the best bird seed mix?

Choose a specialist bird seed mix if trying to attract a specific species e.g. Goldfinch seed mixes are more likely to attract finches.

At certain times of the year birds might prefer a seasonal seed mix like our Premium Spring and Summer Seed Mix. Or if you want to avoid mess and fuss choose our No Husk, No Grow, No Waste Wild Bird Seed Mix.

Avoid seed mixes containing ingredients that require soaking before consumption e.g. lentils, split peas and rice, as only large birds can eat them dry.
